Last week while I was out of school the students worked on a cross curricular World Cup project. Take a look at a few pictures over the course of the week. Great job 5A and thank you Teacher Andrea!

Class,
I really appreciated everyone's active participation in our class "discussion" on Water in Zambia. You were engaged in the conversation on our Today's Meet site (click the red words to get our discussion). You can still access it and we will carry on the discussion tomorrow. Did you like this format of discussion? Why or why not? Mrs. K Please watch the video below and write your reaction to the video and what our class can do to help more people have access to clean water in the comment section. Below is a letter from Ms. Garci regarding graduation. Please write your questions in the comment section. Check out Gabi CM, Teodora, Gabi S., and Manu's video they created during "Your Choice". They teach you how to find the area of a triangle. Leave your thoughts and questions for them in the comment section. Here is the video we watched in class today. Please write (or record) a blog post reflecting on "The Story of Stuff" with your thoughts, what shocked you, and what you feel about it. Post it onto your Weebly site by Wednesday. We are currently reading Because of Mr. Terupt for our read aloud. We learned Jeffery's brother Michael had down syndrome. This video makes me smile and speaks to me by showing that we are all alike, even through our differences. The people in the video have down syndrome, but they are happy and love life just like you and me. I can't help but smile and dance along with them to celebrate being happy, no matter what defines you. In our story all the characters are defined, for good or bad, through their narration. Alexia is defined as a brat, but is she really when we look deeper? Luke is defined as a smart student, but isn't he more than that? What defines you? What thing in your life do people focus on to make you feel less than you are? For so long in my life I was defined by my height. It may sound silly, but I felt ashamed of being tall because people picked on me and I thought it limited me in the things I could pursue. It took a long time for me to be HAPPY about what God gave me. Please share in the comments what defines you. Friday was such a great day for me as an educator. I love student-led conferences because it is so powerful to see a student reflecting, explaining, and sharing on what they have done this year. Please fill out the survey below to give me feedback on the conference structure. Our world is amazing, but we can make it even better! After watching the video write one thing you are going to do this week to change the world. If you get stuck use the ideas you heard from 5C's assembly. Read your peer's and help keep them accountable. At the end of the week I'll ask you to write a blog post on how you did with your choice. Another Monday is here, and if you want to smile (and maybe cry) watch this Monday Motivation video. How would you feel if you were this waitress? Can you think of a time in your life when someone showed extreme kindness to you? Comment on this post. |
