Kid President is back again. After watching the video comment on what you think we should say more often. Also, please respectfully and thoughtfully reply to classmate's comment.

Please watch the video of our creative 5A students and leave a comment. Sarah shared an interesting current event about monkeys being able to use iPads to communicate and express their thoughts. Do you think computers have the same effect on humans? Why or why not? Leave your thoughts in the comment section. So often we focus on the things we don't have, rather than being grateful for what we do have. Nick Vujicic could easily complain and be ungrateful, but he chose the opposite. What did you learn from this video? Last week while I was at the Big 8 tournament for Boys' Varsity Basketball students worked on two projects during class. In math they created a Math Game that reinforced topics we have learned this year. Students had to create a theme and concept, write clear game directions, and design a game board with pieces. In Social Studies, they used their knowledge from our Reading Street story, Leonardo's Horse, to channel Leonardo da Vinci and build an object using only popsicle sticks, straws, twist ties, and glue. Their creativeness and originality was impressive! As I watched this inspiring story of a group of middle school students I made lots of text connections. Can you think of any connections to books you've read (hint: think of a past read aloud)? Students are finishing up their Genius Hour projects and sharing with the class. Take a look at the Genius Hour page to see some of the presentations. I will continue to add to the page as more people present. Below is Alejo's stop-motion video he created. He learned how to create a stop motion and add "floating objects". What compliments can you give Alejo? What constructive criticism can you give him? What questions do you have about his process?
Today KJ's current event was about RoboRoaches, remote controlled cockroaches. Do you think introducing RoboRoaches in classrooms is a good idea or not? Explain why or why not? Share an act of kindness you will do for someone this week to spread awesomeness! I am going to make a sweet treat (cake pops) for the cleaning ladies at school. I want them to know we really appreciate all the time they spend making our room clean. How are you going to make the world more awesome? |
