Please work through the material at your own pace and ask any questions you have as you go. I have also been blogging about my Flipped Learning Experience on my blog.
Why Flip?
In the education world buzzwords and trends come and go, but technology integration and a student-centered class will be two constants for the future. Flipped classrooms capitalize on current technology with a focus on the individual student.
Blended (flipped) classrooms give students autonomy and responsibility in their learning. Students take ownership of their learning and can choose how they receive instruction and demonstrate their understanding. Students with a range readiness levels can move through the lessons at their own pace and then during class can ask questions and dive deeper into the content and concepts.
Below is a short video with briefly explaining some of the reason why flipping your class might be beneficial to your students.

Below is a mind map of the four major benefits of flipped learning my husband and I have found while flipping.
The Process
As my basketball coach always used to say, KISS--Keep it Simple Stupid (or since that is not very PC language...Keep it Short and Sweet). When planning your flipped video lesson start simple, don't get carried away with adding bells and whistles. Below are two videos walking you through the process of creating a flipped lesson.

the fun part
While some teachers may enjoy creating the videos ( I do!), the most rewarding and fun part is the classroom experience. This is probably the most important part of blended learning. You need to make sure you plan engaging and authentic activities for your class to do in class. Flipped learning isn't worth it and doesn't change student learning if students are simply watching a video and then doing worksheets in class. So get creative, give your students choice, and you will be amazed at the outcomes!
