This week in reading students were in three groups and read about one of the following topics: kudzu, genetically engineered foods, or buffalo. To demonstrate their learning of main idea and details, persuasive writing, and the topic students will be working in smaller subgroups to try and persuade people of their opinion. Students will create Glogs and share them on this website next week. For more information look at the Glog I created about this assignment. One of the most valuable things as a teacher is your PLN (Personal Learning Network). I've been blessed enough to work on two continents and have made teaching connections along the way. A goal I have for our class is to be world citizens and live (and learn) outside the walls of our classroom. I began searching for ways to eliminate distances and make connections with other classes around the world. I put a tweet out into the Twitter world and viola, we had our first Mystery Skype. It was a blast, and the great thing about it was while the students were engaged and having fun, they also learned and practiced valuable 21st century skills, teamwork, and communication. Please check out our video and leave comments to let us know what you think or how we can connect with you! |
